BRAND NEW SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS IN MELBOURNE’S NORTH WEST

The school year is well underway, and students in Greenvale are settling into their brand new school – part of the Andrews Labor Government’s work to deliver a great education for families in Victoria’s fastest-growing areas.

Minister for Education James Merlino today visited Greenvale Secondary College to officially open the first stage of the school, which is home to 119 Year 7 students in its first year, and will eventually provide a great education, close to home, for up to 1,100 students.

Greenvale Secondary College’s first stage includes a world-class science, technology, engineering and maths building, a learning neighbourhood building, an administration and learning resource centre building, and landscaped outdoor play and learning areas.

Future stages will include a dedicated visual arts building, and a performing arts and physical education building including an indoor multi-court and a sports oval.

The school is led by founding principal Mark Natoli, an educator with more than a decade’s experience who is passionate about building a community with Greenvale families to ensure the new school’s success.

Greenvale Secondary College, which is welcoming Year 7 students this year, will have the capacity to grow to up to 1,100 students in the long term, to ensure it can keep pace with population growth in the region.

The school is one of 14 new schools the Labor Government has opened in 2022 as part of its work to deliver 100 new schools by 2026 – with 48 of those schools now open for students and families right across the state.

In the past seven years, the Government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools and more than 1,700 school upgrades, creating around 13,500 jobs in construction and associated industries.
