BUILDERS APPOINTED FOR NEW LOCAL SCHOOLS

The Andrews Labor Government is ensuring families in Greenvale and Kalkallo are one step closer to having two new great local schools.

Member for Yuroke Ros Spence today announced the appointment of Hutchinson Builders to deliver Greenvale Secondary School and ADCO Group to build Kalkallo Common Primary School as part of the Labor Government’s commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026.

Stage 1 of Greenvale Secondary School will consist of an Administration and Learning Resource Centre building, a STEM building, a Learning Neighbourhood building, car park, bike shelters, multipurpose hardcourt, and landscaped outdoor play and learning areas. The school will cater for 1100 students once all stages are complete, with Stage 1 catering for 550 students.

Kalkallo Common Primary School will include 2 Learning Neighbourhood buildings, a Performing Arts and Physical Education Building, an Administration and Resource Intensive Learning building, multipurpose hardcourts, playgrounds and a sports field. This school is planned to open Term 1, 2022 and will cater for 525 students.
Every new Victorian primary school being built from 2021 will have a kindergarten on-site or next door, to reduce the burden on parents and carers while continuing to build the Education State.
In the past five years, the Labor Government has invested more than $9 billion in more than 1,600 school upgrades – creating more than 10,000 construction jobs – and is now ahead of schedule its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 48 new schools opening between 2019 and 2022.

Across the Yuroke electorate, the Andrews Labor Government is in the process of delivering more than 10 new schools in Craigieburn, Greenvale, Mickleham and Kalkallo.
