BUILDING COMMUNITIES IN YUROKE

The Andrews Labor Government is helping build the infrastructure that Yuroke needs as part of the 2018/19 Growing Suburbs Fund.

Member for Yuroke Ros Spence today announced a $4.6 million State Government contribution for three great new local projects, including:

$2.66 million for the new Cloverton South Community Hub, featuring three separate buildings and providing early childhood education (including kinder and playgroups), maternal & child healthcare, adult learning, a youth space and much more;

$1.5 million for Craigieburn’s first-ever softball centre, featuring two softball fields with sports lighting, multipurpose open space and a pavilion

$450,000 for the planned Hume Tennis and Community Centre Playspace Upgrade, which includes a playspace, picnic shelter and BBQ facilities.

These local projects are part of a $50 million investment in grants that will go towards 45 new projects in Melbourne’s growing suburbs.

The Labor Government’s investment brings the total project cost to $112 million and is improving critical local infrastructure like family and community centres, town centre and civic revitalisation projects and open space improvements.

It is delivering projects that improve the amenity, liveability and resilience of local communities, while also providing local jobs.

Since 2015/2016, the fund has supported Melbourne’s 10 interface municipalities of Cardinia, Casey, Hume, Melton, Mitchell, Mornington Peninsula, Nillumbik, Whittlesea, Wyndham, and Yarra Ranges.

Together, these council areas will accommodate 46 per cent of the state’s population growth until 2031.
