CELEBRATING CHILDREN’S WEEK WITH COMMUNITY GRANTS

The Victorian Government is helping thousands of children celebrate Children’s Week in October by supporting local councils and not-for-profit organisations with grants for fun and free educational activities.

Member for Yuroke Ros Spence today announced Attwood House Community Centre Association will receive a grant of $500 to host an international teddy bear picnic, preparing and sharing healthy snacks and foods from around the world.

Almost $100,000 worth of grants are being distributed to help recipients celebrate in innovative ways with their communities in line with the coronavirus restrictions in their areas.

Activities and celebrations include free online art exhibitions, dance workshops, arts and crafts lessons, musical and story-telling performances, drawing competitions and where possible outdoor events.

All online activities will be held with cyber-safety in mind and any in-person activity will be subject to public health advice and the epidemiology of the time.

Children’s Week is a national celebration that will run from Saturday, 23 October to Sunday, 31 October 2021. For more information, visit education.vic.gov.au/about/events.
