DELIVERING A NEW SPORTING FACILITY FOR CRAIGIEBURN

Craigieburn’s new Aston Recreation Reserve is now open thanks to investment from the Andrews Labor Government to support the community to grow and prosper.

Member for Yuroke Ros Spence today joined community members to officially open the new Aston Recreation Reserve.

The $3.1 million community facility features a pavilion, three soccer pitches, a cricket field, cricket practice facilities, children’s play space, BBQ facilities and more.

The project received $2 million through the Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund and was delivered by Hume City Council.

The Growing Suburbs Fund supports the creation of community connections, enhanced services, and provides greater opportunities at the local level in Melbourne’s rapidly growing interface councils.

Since its creation in 2015-16, the Growing Suburbs Fund has invested more than $19.5 million into the Hume community for 17 projects, which have included sporting pavilions, community hubs, play spaces and more.
