Land Brings Primary School For Kalkallo A Step Closer

Families in Melbourne’s growing northern suburbs are a step closer to having an exciting new local school, after land was secured to build Kalkallo Common Primary School (interim name).

Minister for Education James Merlino today announced that land at Sequoia Drive, Kalkallo has been purchased to start work on the school.

The school is set to open in 2022 and include general and specialist teaching spaces, administration areas, a performing arts and physical education building including a competition grade gymnasium, outdoor sporting facilities and play areas.

The school will cater for up to 525 students from Melbourne’s northern suburbs once completed.

The Andrews Labor Government has invested $6.1 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades across the state, supporting over 7500 construction jobs for Victorians.

Kalkallo Common Primary School (interim name) is part of the Labor Government’s school building boom that will see 100 new government schools open by 2026.

This building boom will continue over the coming years, with the government delivering 11 new schools across the state, due to open in 2020.
