NEW PAVILION A BOOST FOR ROXBURGH PARK COMMUNITY

A new sports pavilion is on the way for Roxburgh Park residents, thanks to a $2 million contribution from the Andrews Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.

Member for Yuroke Ros Spence, representing the Minister for Local Government Marlene Kairouz, today turned the first sod on the new Arena Reserve Pavilion at Roxburgh Park.

The Arena Reserve Pavilion is a $3.015 million partnership project between Hume City Council and the Victorian Government.  Hume City Council provided $1 million toward the development of this integrated sports and community pavilion.

Originally scheduled for construction in 2020-21, the Growing Suburbs Fund has helped Hume City Council to bring forward this critical infrastructure in the rapidly developing True North Estate.

The new, integrated pavilion will include sporting facilities for new clubs and spaces for community groups to meet, as well as space to hold events.

It will have a social room and adjoining kitchen, an office, first aid room, cleaner’s storeroom, four change rooms with attached amenities, two trainers’ rooms, two umpires’ rooms and two large store rooms. The project is expected to complete in late 2019.

The Growing Suburbs Fund targets high priority projects that improve the amenity, liveability and resilience of the 10 metropolitan interface councils in outer suburban areas – including Hume City Council.

The Fund has contributed $19.6 million to 17 projects in the City of Hume since 2015-16. For more information, visit: www.localgovernment.vic.gov.au/grants/growing-suburbs-fund
