Adjournment: Country Fire Authority Craigieburn Station

Ms SPENCE (Yuroke) (19:11:22) — (14 336) My adjournment matter is for the attention of the Minister for Emergency Services, and the action I seek is that the minister provide an update on the time line for the delivery of the new Craigieburn fire station funded in last week’s budget. Local firefighters are absolutely ecstatic that the Andrews Labor government is investing in giving them the resources they need to keep our communities safe by building a brand-new, state-of-the-art fire station for the Craigieburn community with space for more trucks and more firefighters.

I would like to put on the record my gratitude to senior station officer David Maxwell, to senior volunteer first lieutenant Chris Gray and to all the Craigieburn firefighters, be they volunteer or career, for the absolutely outstanding job that they do. I am delighted that we are able to support their work, and I look forward to passing on the minister’s response to my community.

Response:

The Victorian Government greatly values the work of the Craigieburn Country Fire Authority (CFA) Brigade, who selflessly devote their time and skills to promote the safety and wellbeing of the community.

CFA advises that, pending site acquisition, construction of the Craigieburn CFA station is anticipated to commence in July 2019, with the station expected to be operational by March 2020.

The Hon James Merlino MP
Deputy Premier
Minister for Emergency Services
