Adjournment: Craigieburn War Memorial

Ms SPENCE (Yuroke) (11:26:07) — (13 341) My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Veterans, and the action I seek is that the minister visit the Yuroke electorate to tour our new war memorial located in the recently opened Craigieburn Anzac Park. The construction of this memorial has been a decade-long project and has involved a dedicated group of volunteers. After years of tireless work the local community welcomed the consecration of this sacred site earlier this year. I am sure the minister will be very proud to see this site, and I look forward to his response.

Response:

Thank you for the matter you raised relating to the new Craigieburn ANZAC Park War Memorial. I am aware of the outstanding work by the local community to construct this memorial.

The Victorian Government provided $25,000 to support the construction of the new memorial through the Victoria Remembers Grant Program. We provide a range of grants in the veteran portfolio for commemoration and education projects, including the establishment or restoration of Victoria’s war memorials.

I would be delighted to visit your electorate and tour the new War Memorial.

Hon John Eren MP
Minister for Veterans
