Adjournment: Greenvale Reservoir Park

Ms SPENCE (Yuroke) — (12 218) My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change. Noting the recent successful community open day for the plans to upgrade Greenvale Reservoir Park, can the minister please provide residents with an update on these plans and advise how residents can give their feedback?

Greenvale Reservoir Park has been a hub for locals in the Yuroke electorate for many years. I know locals have greatly enjoyed its facilities and open spaces, and I am sure it will continue to be a valuable community resource. That is why the news of a $1.4 million upgrade has been greatly welcomed, and I thank residents and community groups, including the Craigieburn scouts, for attending the recent open day. The open day was a valuable chance to hear from Parks Victoria and landscape architects, and I am sure all residents will be grateful for an update from the minister and news about how they can contribute their feedback to the plans.

Response:

Parks Victoria held a community open day at Greenvale Reservoir Park on 5 February 2017. I attended the open day and received an update on the plans for the $1.4 million upgrade works from Parks Victoria staff and the concept planners.

Approximately 50 community members dropped in and provided feedback on the proposals. They viewed concept drawings, chatted with planners and rangers, and completed questionnaires. Participants included local residents, the principal of the neighbouring school, Aitken College, Josie Crissara, and two Hume City councillors, Councillor Jana Taylor and Councillor Jodi Jackson.

The $1.4 million upgrade will help better meet the needs of communities in the fast-growing outer northern suburbs of Melbourne.

At the open day the community offered a range of useful suggestions, which Parks Victoria will consider prior to finalising the proposal. Anyone else who would like to comment can visit the Parks Victoria website to check the concept plans and complete the survey online until 17 March 2017.
