Adjournment: Mickleham Primary School

Ms SPENCE (Yuroke): My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Education, and the action I seek is for the minister to join me for a visit to Mickleham Primary School to officially open their new administration building. Mickleham Primary is a fantastic community-minded local school, and it is truly unique, with the school’s 130-year-old bluestone building still standing and presently serving as the school library. As the minister knows, there has been rapid population growth in the northern growth corridor in recent years, and Mickleham Primary has experienced substantial new enrolments and, with that, a range of additional infrastructure needs. This much-needed new administrative building will provide relief for school staff and free up more learning space for the school’s ever-growing student population. Having worked closely with the school principal, Sue Crispe, and the broader school community on a number of different issues, I know that they would greatly appreciate any opportunity for a visit from the minister. I look forward to hearing from him and welcoming him back to the Yuroke electorate soon.

Response:

The member for Yuroke raised a matter for me to visit Mickleham Primary School and open their new admin building. The member for Yuroke and I have had many, many, many conversations about the incredible growth in her electorate of Yuroke, and we are making some significant investments, whether that is school upgrades or delivering brand-new schools as part of our commitment to open 100 new schools over the next eight years, and I will certainly be delighted to visit Mickleham Primary School.
