Members Statement: Social Inclusion Week

Ms SPENCE (Yuroke) (10:03:16): Social Inclusion Week is an annual event that takes place in the last week of November. I am very proud of the Andrews Labor government’s work in this space, with initiatives including the social procurement framework and the social enterprise strategy. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many organisations, community groups and individuals who seek to make our community a more inclusive place. In particular I would like to acknowledge Brite Services, who have provided supported employment and training for people with a disability for over 40 years. Brite is located in Broadmeadows, and I know it is very important to you, Acting Speaker McGuire. Many of the constituents in my electorate are part of the Brite family, and they have benefited from Brite’s support and its expertise. By helping to affirm the value of each individual, Brite has enriched and enhanced our community, and I thank CEO Nick MacHale and all involved with Brite for the immense contribution that they have made.
