A BIG BOOST FOR INCLUSION IN YUROKE

Sensory play equipment, outdoor learning spaces and kitchen gardens are among a number of innovative school building projects the Andrews Labor Government is supporting, making sure every Victorian student has the opportunity to fully participate and succeed.

Member for Yuroke Ros Spence today announced Aitken Hill Primary School in Yuroke will share in more than $6.6 million through Round 7 of the Inclusive Schools Fund.

The fund supports small building projects that make a big difference to the educational and social needs of all children and young people, including those with a disability and additional needs, by increasing participation opportunities and improving learning outcomes.

Among the successful applicants is Aitken Hill Primary School which will receive $200,000 for an inclusive outdoor learning space including new sensory equipment.

The Victorian Budget 2021/22 invested $10 million into the Inclusive Schools Fund, building on a boost of $20 mil-lion in the Victorian Budget 2020/21.

The Labor Government launched the Inclusive Schools Fund in 2015 to help Victorian schools cater for all students, and make sure all children and young people can fully participate, learn, develop and succeed. Since then, more than 340 projects have shared in $70 million in funding for inclusive projects.

The next round of funding is expected to be launched in early 2022.
