Extra car parks for Craigieburn station

The Andrews Labor Government is relieving pressure on packed train station car parks across Victoria, to make it easier for people to drive to the station, catch the train and get to work on time.

An area of land within the current Craigieburn station car park has been identified to allow for an additional 40 to 50 spaces to be added in the short-term, while opportunities to add even more spaces in the long-term are investigated.
The initial boost of 40 to 50 car parks will increase the total number of spaces at the station approximately 320. Works for the new car parks will commence within the coming weeks and will be complete within months.

The second stage of the project will use land available near the station to create up to 50 car parks while investigations for many more spaces at nearby site options continue.

This announcement comes as the Government’s 2016/17 Victorian Budget delivers $20 million to expand station car parks in Melbourne’s outer-suburbs and regional Victoria.

All-in-all, more than 1,500 extra spaces will be created at railway station car parks across the metropolitan and regional networks.

It’s part of the Labor Government’s overhaul of Victoria’s public transport system, to run more trains, that turn up on time more often, for a growing Victoria.
