KALKALLO’S FIRST SPORTS AND RECREATION FACILITIES OPEN

The community of Kalkallo now has its first permanent recreation facility thanks to a new multi-purpose pavilion built to meet the needs of Kalkallo’s growing and diverse community.

On Saturday member for Yuroke, Ros Spence MP attended the opening of the Kalkallo Recreation Reserve Pavilion in Cloverton, which is also the new home to growing sporting clubs, the Hume Bombers Football Club, and the Donnybrook Cricket Club.

This project received almost $1.5 million in funding from the Andrews Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund, which supports the creation of community connections, enhanced services, and provides greater opportunities at a local level.

The development will provide Kalkallo residents with more opportunities to participate in sport and recreation. The facility features a large social room, two sets of change rooms, including gender inclusive change areas, two umpire rooms, a kitchen area, office space, storage rooms as well as landscaping and a viewing area.

This project was delivered in partnership with Hume City Council, who contributed an equal amount of almost $1.5 million towards the project amounting to a total of nearly $3 million.

The latest round of the Growing Suburbs Fund is now open for submissions, with $50 million available to support vital infrastructure projects in the fastest-growing areas around Melbourne including Hume City Council. Since its establishment in 2015, the Growing Suburbs Fund has supported 299 projects, representing a total infrastructure investment of $1.07 billion, including almost $31.5 million in Hume City Council which has supported a total of 35 projects.
