PRINCIPAL APPOINTED FOR NEW CRAIGIEBURN SCHOOL

The new Craigieburn South Secondary School is one step closer with the appointment of Colin Burke as the school’s principal.

Mr Burke is currently the Senior Campus Principal at Mill Park Secondary College with day-to-day Principal level responsibility for a campus of over 900 students and 80 staff.

Mr Burke was appointed following a thorough Department of Education process to select one of Victoria’s best and brightest educators to lead the school.

Craigieburn South Secondary School will open in 2020 and is part of a record investment in local education, with the Andrews Labor Government set to deliver six new schools in the Yuroke electorate over this term of government.

The first of these new schools, Aitken Hill Primary School, opened earlier this year in Craigieburn. New primary schools in Merrifield and Greenvale will welcome their first students in 2021, followed by the opening Kalkallo Common Primary School and the long-awaited Greenvale Secondary School in 2022.

Next year, new schools will open across Victoria in Ballarat, Casey, Greater Dandenong, Greater Geelong, Hume, Mitchell and Wyndham. Principals have now been appointed to all new schools, which are currently known by their interim names.

The Labor Government has invested $5.6 billion in improving, upgrading and building schools to ensure that every community can access a great local school where students can achieve their best.
