Constituency Question: New SES Unit

Ms SPENCE (Yuroke) — (13 066) My question is to the Minister for Emergency Services. What information can the minister provide to the residents of the Yuroke electorate to update them on the delivery of an additional Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) unit for Craigieburn? The Craigieburn SES do an incredible job in our community, and I know that those residents in particular would appreciate an update on this important project.

Response:

The Victorian Government greatly values the work of the Craigieburn Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) Unit, who selflessly devote their time and skills to promote the safety and wellbeing of the community.

As I announced on 2 May 2017, the Victorian Government has allocated $34.3 million in funding for VICSES, which includes funding to establish a new unit at Craigieburn North. The funding of the additional unit will ensure that VICSES is adequately resourced to respond to the needs of the community in the Craigieburn area.

I am pleased to advise that VICSES is in the process of searching for land in the Craigieburn North area to accommodate the new unit.

The Hon James Merlino MP
Deputy Premier
Minister for Emergency Services
