A SLAM DUNK FOR CRAIGIEBURN

Craigieburn Basketball Association, Craigieburn Netball Association, Craigieburn Ladies Badminton Club and more than 1600 of their members are set to benefit from upgrades to the Craigieburn Sports Stadium, now underway thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Yuroke Ros Spence MP visited the stadium last month to inspect the project which was made possible by $5 million in funding from the Victorian Labor Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.

This Council-led upgrade will cater for even more community members, with an extension to provide an additional three multi-use courts marked for basketball, netball, and badminton, taking the venue’s total number of courts to eight. The works will also include spectator seating, meeting rooms, a new cafe, additional parking, and other amenities.

The project, which will create a total of 25 full time jobs throughout the construction phase, is expected to be complete in June 2023.

The Victorian Budget 2022/23 is kicking in $88 million to deliver new and improved community sports infrastructure and programs to boost participation in local sporting clubs and organisations. It’s part of the more than $1.6 billion that the Labor Government has invested in community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014.
