SMALL AND MEDIUM EVENTS PROGRAM

Member for Kalkallo Ros Spence today announced that Hume Diwali Mela and Wallan Winter Wonderland will receive funding as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s Small and Medium Events Program, which is aimed at attracting more events to Greater Melbourne.

As part of this program, Hume Diwali Mela will be receiving $20,500 to deliver their annual festival of lights on November 4, which attracted more than 10,000 attendees from across Victoria last year.

Wallan Winter Wonderland will also be benefiting from this program with $25,000 in funding to deliver their event on July 15, to celebrate all things winter, with food trucks, bespoke breweries, warming fire pits, market stalls, live music, and a whole lot more.

The Small and Medium Events Program supports a diverse range of activities including cultural, sporting and creative events.

It will help create ongoing jobs across the industry, connecting organisers with local businesses and suppliers and attracting more visitors to experience the best Melbourne’s suburbs have to offer.

Quotes attributable to Member for Kalkallo Ros Spence:

“This funding is a big win for our local community, encouraging more people to visit both Craigieburn and Wallan while also supporting our local economy.”

“I can’t wait to see both of these organisations and our local community benefit from this funding.”
