$4.5M FOR NEW COMMUNITY, SPORTING FACILITIES IN HUME

The Victorian Government has invested more than $4.5 million for works to deliver and upgrade a community hub, tennis and play space centre and softball centre in the Hume municipality.

Member for Yuroke Ros Spence today announced a $2.6 million Growing Suburbs Fund (GSF) allocation for the Cloverton South Community Hub, $450,000 for the Hume Tennis and Community Centre Playspace Upgrade and $1.5 million for the Craigieburn Softball Centre.

Funding comes 2018-19 GSF round, which is supporting the creation of community connections, enhanced services, and provides greater opportunities at the local level.

The $5 million Craigieburn Softball Centre will provide the Craigieburn community with a new and diverse open space to support recreation activities and improve the health and wellbeing of the community.

Softball is increasing in popularity in Craigieburn and the project will support this by providing female participants with equitable access to facilities.

The Cloverton South Community Hub is a $5.7 million partnership With Hume City Council to provide preschool services and community meeting space in Kalkallo, a new growing suburb.

The facility will create an inclusive and connected Cloverton community and include three separate buildings to house services for a range of kindergarten playgroups and maternal and child health consulting suites, community training rooms, youth area, general administration area, kitchen, staff office and general amenity.

The $935,000 Hume Tennis and Community Centre Playspace Upgrade will help support a young and growing community and deliver a new playspace to provide diversity of components to engage all abilities and ages to experience active, sensory and imaginative play.

This project will also include a picnic shelter and barbeque facilities that support family and group social gatherings as well as provide access to amenities and café facilities in the Tennis Centre, which is open seven days per week.

The first three rounds of the Growing Suburbs Fund have invested more than $13.7 million into the Hume municipality for 11 projects.
